Her legs carried her across the hills. Up and over, she went. Lola came to a stop and watched the sun just barely come up. It was only barel showing over the horizon, when she stopped to watch it. She breathed hard, and she could see her breath out in front of her. Her eyes watched the sun, and it seemed like an eternity to come up. This was Lola's favorite time of the day; watching the sun come up and then at the end of the day, go down. She started up again, and she galloped over the hills. After galloping over one, she stopped to say something. I just love it out here. She smiled and closed her eyes for a moment. Her favorite place in the world; right here in the hills. Whenever she ran, she felt like a soaring eagle. She felt free and alive. Lola did not get that much anywhere, accept here. Now, when the sun came up, it was still dreamy here, but it just seemed better in the dawn and at dusk. Dreams were floating around her.

Rohan followed at a distance. This mare seemed more light than dark, but if she were neutral, he would be relieved. He had been following for some time now, and he was ready to go forward and confront her. He trotted swiftly to her resting place and stopped nearby. As before, a low nicker rang out to the mare, warning of his presence. His call echoed for a moment, before dying away in the distance.
He slowly moved closer, head held high, asserting his dominance over the mare. He snorted as he came closer, trying as hard as possible to draw her attention to him. He watched her, waiting for a reaction as his hooves made shallow imprints of the grassy hills. He was quiet now as he stepped forward to the mare. His eyes were soft, and he appeared to be kind and patient.
Looks can be deceiving...

Loraine looked back, and saw a stallion coming behind her. She started up right away and took off; just like an eagle would do. She felt like a soaring eagle, and she felt unstoppable. Her legs pushed her in the cooling morning air, which made her feel as though she was free and lifted off of the grounds. She did not look back, but she did keep on moving; faster and faster she went. She was going full speed, and she truly was unstoppable. Loraine had raced lots in her life, and won many races as well. For fear that she might stumble, Loraine kept her head looking ahead, as she dodged some trees and jumping over various objects laying on the hill. What does he want?

Rohan took off with amazing speed. He had been ready. He was always ready for a chase, even when he least expected it. He had begun to gallop as the mare pushed herself forward to do the same. He would not be resisted so easily. He lifted his head as he ran and neighed to her, asking her not to run. He was still right behind her, gaining ground until he was only a few feet from the fleeing mare. Soon he would be beside her.
He leapt over various rocks and logs, as well as small ditches in the ground as he followed the reckless mare. He was fast, and so was she. But, as a stallion, he had more strength andcould go much longer than she could. He was not yetat full speed, and had nearly come to run alongside her. He wished she would stop. He meant no ill harm toward her.

Loraine looked over to her, an he was right next to her. What does he want!! She wanted to know what he wanted, but she also did not know. He could be trying to do something harmful. How would she know. Out of know where, she slowed and came to a stead pace. When she slowed, she had turned around and started to run back the way she had just started to run. She did not run fast, just a slow steady paste. Loraine then stopped to watch the sun. It had come over the horizon even more than before. Now it was showing half of itself. She did not forget that the stallion would probably return, but she had her few second run. Loraine did not turn around to see where he had ended up.

Rohan slowed and turned with the mare, keeping a steady pace with her constantly. He followed her, stopping with her as she stopped to watch the sunset. There was little he would do now that they had stopped. He nickered quietly, trying to bring her attention to him. He watched her silently, hoping that she did not chose to run from him again. He did not like chasing, but he would do it if he must.
He stood beside her; a small breeze flew by, attempting to takehis mane with him. His blood red coat shimmered in the sunlight and his white socks were clean and free of any dirt. He wasstill waiting for the mare to turn to him and awknowledge his presence for at least a moment. After that, he would acomplish what he came to do.

This mare thought aboyt running again, but she knew that is would be useless. She sighed and took in a deep breath. What is it that you want from me? Loraine's voice was barely audible. She turned her head and looked at him. She knew there had to be something... I mean he followed her. What was the reason beyond all of this? She might find out soon, and maybe not. Maybe she would make a new friend, or an enemy. She did not know, and she did not expect anything like this so early in the morning. Once the wind picked up, her mane had been moving along with the wind; streaming onto her back.

What be your name, mare? he asked inb reply to her question. He began to circle her, inspecting her for a moment. He did not know how she would react to that, and he didnot know if she would answer his question. Hewould become stern if she went to far out of line. Mares were meant to show a lead stallion respect. He watched her as he circled, wary of her actions, as he was with any horse.
He looked at her. She was pretty. Her fur was a dark chestnut and white. She was smaller than he, naturally, but she appeared to be strong. She was certainly strong willed. He liked strong willed mares better than those who did as they were told right away. He was a dark, and he liked rebellion in any horse. It made them good fighters.

Loraine listened to the stallion for a minute. She then hesitated before replying to his question. Loraine. She watched him as he circled her. She felt so low to be circled by a stallion. Maybe he was checking for something. Who knows. She did know that any move that he made, she would be watching him. What abour yourself? She then watched the sun rise as well. The sun had come up a little more, and was shining happily. No matter where the stallion went, her eyes were locked on him. Her breathing was soft, and she watched the stallion in curiosity.

Rohan, he replied absentmindedly. This was going better than planned. Better than it had before, at least. She was wary, he knew. But wasn't everyone? He was always wary, always watching for a sign of danger. A bad habit that would never die. Now he wouldget to business. The mare couldn't defy him, he was sure. She had run so early on that he knew she could not. He was ready for whatever resistence she had to give.
Loraine, I think you should come with me, to my territory, he said sternly. His words were formed not as suggestion, but as a stern command that was meant to be obeyed. He wanted to build his herd, and this mare was just another he would take to build it. He waited patiently for her response to come.

The mare thought about what he had said. She was stubborn so she had to ask.If I might ask, what would happen if I did not come with you? Loraine turned to Rohan and look him straight in the eye. This is the only way he was going to get her to go back with him. Loraine had never trusted other right of the bat, and she would not be started that here. She jerked her neck slightly so that all of her mane would be graped over to one side. She eyed the stallion, wondering what he would ay to her remark. He could not force her to go, but she had already made up her mind to go with him. She just want to know what he would say if she declined his offer, or what ever it was.

Then I would forceyou to come with me, he replied tartly. The irritation in his dark side was growing, but he held it back for the moment, just waiting. He tried to be patient, but he knew that there was little hecould do about his temper sometimes. He would have his way with this mare, whatever she did to try and stop him. He could force her to do as he wanted, but that had no fun in it.
He knew that this one, like many others, was stubborn, but he could deal with that. After all, he was stubborn too. He could deal with other stubborn creatures, though it was not the easiest thing in the world to do. He had an iron will, forged of steel. He could compete with the most stubborn creature on the face of the earth if wanted.

Loraina watched the stallion. I hope he means well. She sighed and nodded. I was not saying that I would not go with you. I was simply asking what would happen if I did not go with you. Loraine turned away from the stallion and watched the sun rise. The sun (rise and fall) had always calmed her down; but there was nothing for her to be calmed down about. She sighed as she breathed in the cool, refreshing air. What a nice day it was going to be. I shall follow you order and go with you. It took her a while for her to say that because she was stubborn and did not give into thing so easy, but she did have to respect this stallion.

Then come, he said roughly, all interest in persuading her gone now that she had agreed to come. How simple it had been. Sometimes patience paid out and you got what you wanted. It didn't always work with him, but he tried it every chance he had, using force only when necessary. He snorted and walked behind the mare. It was time for them to go, and he would not be patient now.
He stamped a hoof and snorted again, orderingher to move forward. They would go home now. Though he sometimes seemd unkind, his home was safe from all danger when he protected it. A mare could find a safe haven there. He was watchful. He had attempted to drive most of the predators out, though a few remained. They would never get at his mares so long as he lived.

Loraine listened to the stallion. No matter how rude a stallion or a mare might be, she would not be rude back. She was sick of him already, but she was going to deak with it. I'm going. She said without hesitation. Loraine wstarted to walk, but she felt like trotting. Anyways, she was not going to do anything but walk. Loraine did not want to do anything stupid, so she went when he told her to. Hope that wherever Rohan is taking me, will be safe for me. She was walking in the direction that the sun was not, so she did not get to watch the sun come up fully.

Rohan nipped lightly at her hindquarters. They would need to move faster if they were to get to his lands by the time the sun set. He had traveled far for this one mare. Oh well. It was a start. But he would be unable to leave her until she was used to the territory and its dangers. He would need to teach her. How he loathed teaching what dangers were where to others.
He nipped at her lightly again. They would have to move at a lope to get home. He was not being mean, only trying to make her go faster. It would work, he was sure. He would use more force if it did not. It would still take some time to get home, but if they loped they would be there before the sun set below the horizon.

Loraine was about to hind kick the stallion. She did not take orders well, and Rohan was really pushing the limits. She stopped and turned to Rohan. Since your wanting to go faster, why don't you lead the way? She said in an irritated way. She did not disrespect the stallion, just tried to show him that he was pushing her buttons. I am not going to run off or anything, just be behind you to follow you. I promise to stay up with you. She huffed silently then went on with walking. She was not going to wait for him to take the lead. She was going to wait for him to lead her, when he got around it. Some horses really got under her skin, and this stallion was one of them. As you can tell, this mare is very stubborn. What ever the reason was for trying to get her to go faster, must have a good reason behind it.

Rohan sighed and pinned his ears back. I will move alongside you then, he replied, then moved up until he was walking directly by her side. His ears flicked to catch any noise that might be carried by the wind, and his nostrils flared to scent the same wind that carried sound to his ears.
Make sure to keep up, he said, once the wind cariied no signs of danger. He would know if she did not keep up with him, and he would watch her carefully. He kept an eye on her. His other eyes focused on the way ahead. He flicked his ears and flared his nostrils, always alert for any sign of danger that might threaten him of the mare, Loraine.

Loraine nodded once, and then kept on walking. She did not acre that he was going to try to control her, but she did care if he was pushy about the things he would be demanding her to do. She sighed as she walked faster and faster. I will keep up. She whispered to the stallion. Loraine has never been able to take demands well, since she was younger. Things had happened to her that she would not mention to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Every step Loraine stepped lightly, and innoticeably. The wind was picking up, but very little, and was still a refreshing feeling.
